Initial thoughts on the highly awaited summer game.

Black Myth Wukong has attracted approximately 3.3 million players globally. Spending the first 10 hours immersed in the game has provided valuable insights into why players are drawn to it.
When entering the world after the intro your quickly thrown into battle with some quick tips on how to get started. With only a vague understanding of your goal and some help from a friendly deity, you go off following the path laid out before you.

Black Myth Wukong takes place after the story of Journey to the West and the gameplay takes inspiration from games like "Dark Souls", "Elden Ring", and "Sekiro" without it feeling outright like any of those games. The environment and how you interact with the world is very linear and inspired from the games like "God of War" and "StarsWars Outlaw". Although at times the frame rate drops (on console) it hasn’t been too distracting for continued play.
Similar to "God of War" you get a skill tree for each available attack stance, magic and abilities. Figuring out what skills to pick up can be a bit tricky because there isn't any set level of difficulty for the game. But hey, don't let that get you down! The difficulty of the game is challenging enough even for the casual gamer but not to the extreme where you'll lose interest in the game. Fighting is easy to learn but the real challenge comes in learning to dodge.
The bosses are interesting and each have a unique fighting style. Mini bosses are scattered through the level and keeps players engaged, as well as secret bosses that players can miss if they don't keep a look out on their environment. At the end of chapter 1, the players get a nice surprise as a pat on the back for their accomplishments.
Up to now, the game has been a blast! Since it's a story-driven game, there's absolutely no rush to finish it. If you're feeling curious and excited to uncover more, dive into our detailed review to see where it lands in our rating system!
